Seven years ago I had a total knee replacement. I developed chronic pain three months later and was referred to a pain clinic. Six and a half years of fruitless treatment at the pain clinic, including implantation of a neurostimulator and three outpatient procedures to “fix” the neurostimulator, I was left wondering if I was ever going to be able to lead a normal life again.
My original knee replacement came loose and a new orthopedic surgeon performed a second total knee replacement. The procedure was successful but did not stop the chronic pain. My surgeon and I were discussing forwarding my records to the Mayo Clinic, which had previously rejected my case five years earlier. We were discussing alternative treatments when he mentioned Prolotherapy and referred me to a local physician. At that point I searched the intranet and found the best Prolotherapy specialist in Minnesota, Dr. George Kramer.
After a thorough history and examination Dr. Kramer determined that Neural therapy was the best procedure for me. After the first procedure I didn’t notice any change in my chronic pain. My second procedure was scheduled two weeks after the first and about the third or fourth day after the initial treatment I began to notice a small but significant reduction in the pain. Five weeks and four treatments later my chronic pain was virtually gone.
I thank God I was able to find the path to Dr. Kramer and that Neural therapy helped me escape from the chronic pain “prison” I had been in for almost seven years! Dr. Kramer told me he was just an instrument in the healing process, but he is so much more than that.
